Week of Decesmber 31
Happy New Year! It’s hard to believe it’s already January. We had a fun week before vacation that was all about gingerbread people. We read The Gingerbread Man, The Gingerbread Baby, The Gingerbread Girl goes Animal Crackers, Gingerbread Friends, and Gingerbread Pirates. We colored and laced a gingerbread boy or girl shape. We also made gingerbread cookie dough and rolled and cut out cookie shapes. For snack, we frosted and decorated the cookies with chocolate chips. We also enjoyed coloring fancy gingerbread houses. What a fun week!
This week we will be focusing on the season of winter. We will read A Flower in the Snow, Snowballs, and A Snowy Day. Our art project will be painting white paint with koosh rings on an evergreen tree to look like freshly fallen snow. Hopefully all this talk about winter doesn’t bring the snow!
Please be sure to pack labeled hats and gloves each day. We will also need snow pants and boots once the snow comes. We have space to store snow pants and boots if you would like to keep a pair here so you don’t have to bring them back and forth each day. Some of the children have complained it is cold if they are wearing thin leggings or pants so you could also send snow pants in to keep them extra warm. We try to get out every day if possible even for just 15 minutes.
